From the moment we walked in we were greeted & treated as "special guests." We appreciated the hospitality shown by the staff, namely, Rene, Jason, Keo, Paulo and Sergia. Mahalo to all of you! Four of us stayed for 11 nights (Nov-Dec) in two rooms, #606 & #607, both rooms were acceptably clean with comfortable king size beds. This boutique hotel is reasonably priced, located within walking distance to the beach and many stores & restaurants. Two thumbs up! (or is it a thumb and a pinky? - smile!)

December 15, 2011 |

I am a frequent traveler and in Honolulu balance business and leisure time. The Equus Hotel is my favorite place to stay in Honolulu - great location, friendly staff with warm and comfortable room. Not too large, not too small. Enough Hawaiiana to make me feel like I am on the islands, but not overdone. I love the walk through Fort Derussy Park in the morning to Kalakaua Avenue's business area. I highly recommend this charming property!

December 8, 2011 |

I first want to say the location was fabulous and the room was clean. And the welcome we received from the staff was probably the best welcome of any place I have been in my life! And I am a world traveler! One person in particular that made us feel like home was Linelle. She was so beautiful and charming with the Aloha spirit making us feel like family from the very first day!! Linelle provided us with a local perspective and gave us the insider information on where to go and what to do.

The only downside of the Equus was the trail riding that was supposed to be inclusive of our stay; the Hotel did not inform us that we needed a rental car to participate. That should have been told to us at the beginning when booking our package! And not after we arrived. Maybe a shuttle bus for the guests would be a great solution to offer guests to enjoy the trail riding. After all the hotel's name is Equus!! Besides this; the Equus Hotel was a wonderful experience....

Mahalo Linelle And Shaka!

“A real gem in the heart of Waikiki”

November 29, 2011 |

This Aqua Boutique Hotel, The Equus, is the perfect place to rest your head both before and after a day of exploring the many beaches, restaurants, museums, landmarks, and retail outlets, that Waikiki has to offer. No real need for a vehicle, unless you are looking to explore the rest of beautiful Oahu (e.g. the North Shore, where you can go horseback riding on Oahu's most beautiful beach, at Mokuleia Polo Farm). Everything that you need or may want to experience is within walking distance of or a short trolley/bus/taxi ride from this hotel. If you are venturing further than Waikiki, and are in need of a parking spot for your rental vehicle, there is adequate space ($20 USD with in/out privileges). The entrance to the hotel has you climb a set of stairs which passes along side of a quaint garden, bursting with colour and the soothing sound of a babbling fountain. A seating area overlooking the hotel pool, along with the extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff which are quite eager to assist you with your luggage and whatever else you may need help with during your stay, greet you at the top. Once you have checked in, an elevator will take you the rest of the way to your room, which will not disappoint. The rooms have stayed true to their roots, maintaining the comfort and authentic style of the island. We stayed in the Classic Executive on the 10th floor, which provided us with Ethernet, bar fridge, desk, a very welcomed pillow-top mattress and comforter, and all the other amenities that you would expect at a boutique hotel. There is a flat screen television as well, but with the activities and spectacular views just outside your room, you will probably not even get around to turning it on. The Equus starts your day off with a complimentary continental breakfast in their comfy lounge, just off to the side of the lobby, and as mentioned earlier, the staff are more than happy to help you make the most of your stay, providing you with maps, brochures and unbiased recommendations pertaining to Oahu before you venture out. So, what are you waiting for, check this place out, and see what it is like to be treated as an individual and not a number. Aloha!

This Hotel is great value for the money it is within walking distance of everything you could need including the largest open air mall Ala Monana Shopping Center and is just steps away from Wikiki beach, it is also right on a bus route and close to a variety of food options. Rooms are clean and neatly done and staff are very accomodating and responsive to any questions. Parking is available onsite if you have a rental. Beds are +++ comfortable which is nice at the end of a busy day. We also accidently left our jackets in the room when we travelled on elsewhere and were thrilled that they had found them such that we got them back prior to our departure. And the complimentary continetal breakfast was a great way to start the day. All and all a great place to stay and we would happily stay there again.

This is my first time in Hawaii and Equus is such a cozy place to experience Hawaii. The amenities are basic but clean and comfortable. The location is perfect being minutes away from everything you want to check out in Honululu. The Ala Moana shopping center is a 10min. walk, restaurants, beach, ABC Convenient stores, bus stops and the friendliest people on earth are within your reach. The room rate is inexpensive but the experience is priceless.

We haven't been to Hawaii in 25 years. We booked this hotel because of all the good reviews. The reviews were right. This is a gem. We got a penthouse suite in the Marina Tower with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The staff were very friendly and tended to our needs very quickly. We had the pool and tennis court to ourselves as not many people used those amenities. The location met our transpotation needs as the Ala Moana Center was a hub for many buses. You can't beat free continental breakfast and wired internet in the room. Wonderful memories, beautiful weather and I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank-you Rene, Puka and the rest of the staff for making our stay that much more special.

For the price we paid, this hotel was great. We were staying in Honolulu for 1 night prior to a 7 day cruise around the islands. Many of the hotels in Honolulu were 3 times the price we paid but knowing that we were just going to grab a few hours of sleep we didn't need all the perks! The Equus met our needs with a very comfortable bed and great access to public transportation. It's not the newest or on the beach - but it was a good value for the money.

I can honestly say this is one of the best quality hotels that ive ever stayed in. Next time i come to visit oahu, im going to book a room at the Equus Hotel. Mahalo to Rene and the rest of the friendly staff for making our vacation enjoyable, memorable and relaxing.

The hotel and marina are separate structures- this should be clarified at time of booking. Otherwise location is great (lagoon, marina, highway and conference center close by), shopping district and main waikiki beach an enjoyable walk away; Marina tower has excellent views, comfortable rooms, overall enjoyable stay with competitive prices for this expensive area. Cutomer service excellent, in particular with an excellent and attentive manager, Renee.

I recently had a 1 week stay at the Equus Hotel. The common areas, room, pool and hot tub were very clean. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable pillow top bed. Staff were friendly and helpful, responding to requests promptly. The location was convenient. We have stayed in a number of hotels on Oahu over the years and found the Equus to be a great value.Stayed here for Halloween..the super comfy bed was so nice to come back to after walking the strip! We had fun on a mini staycation in Waikiki. We like the Equus and have used it as homebase on other occasions. The staff are so nice, the location is great, the price is good. Rene Kahumoku is absolutely fantastic. There is not one thing that is asked of her that she will not go out of her way. If there is not a way she will find one. As soon as he answers the phone you can just feel the warmth of Aloha and then and there you know that you will be taken care of. This may not be a 5 star but the treatment by Rene and her staff truly makes up for one

If you want to be treated like a Royal at a commoners price this is the place to come to in Hawaii. Not even the 5 Star big name hotels and resorts can match the personal service from Rene and her crew. From the pineapple (work of art) and personalised greetings card when you arrive in your room to the friendly faces of all the staff I will return here again. I will also tell others that in Hawaii, the Equus Hotel and Marina Tower is THE place to choose. Thank you Rene for bringing much love and happiness whenever you are around.

September 24, 2011 |

My boyfriend and I, decided to take a small vacation in Oahu Hawaii during the month of August. We decided to pick the Equus hotel because of the great deal it had offered to us. When we finally arrived in beautiful Hawaii and to our hotel, we where greeted with such welcoming individuals. In addition, we where even given an up-grade to one of the nicest rooms they have free of charge.

The room we where given was beautiful clean and spacious. In the fridge we had fresh pineapple decorated beautify with some flowers. Not only did the individuals who worked at this hotel provided us with a kind welcoming but, whenever we had questions or needed directions they always went out of their way to make sure we knew where to go and how to get there.

I would suggest this place 100% if you don't feel like spending one million dollars on your vacation, but feel like staying in a place thats welcoming and helpful.

The walk from the hotel to Wakki beach is around 15 minutes. We didn't mind that walk because it's nice to get a little active during the vacation. Also this hotel is extremely close to Alamona shopping centre, which is full of beautiful shops, designer stores and awesome restaurants to eat at. The harbour is just a few steps away and it's nice to check out.

Any seasoned traveler knows that, when on the road, it's the PEOPLE that you experience that make for lifelong memories. As much as the balmy weather, warm beaches and technicolor sunsets, Hawaii is all about the people. That Aloha Spirit and genuine warmth can be found at a gem of a boutique hotel at the entrance to Waikiki... the Equus Hotel. Charming with it's equestrian and polo theme throughout, the Equus is very well priced, international in flavor, and conveniently located. Starting as low as $89 (offering various discounts), the Equus provides a complimentary conitnental breakfast including freshly cut pineapple, two tennis courts, a private pool and jacuzzi, and free internet and flat screen TVs in every room. No long lines to check in, endless floors of garage parking, or noisy tour groups. My family has stayed at the Equus dozens of times over the years and we have been consistently well treated. You'll pay quadruple for oceanfront mega-resorts if that's what you want. But if you want charming, quiet, safe, clean, comfortable, affordable all enveloped with aloha, I recommend the Equus Hotel. The Marina Tower shares the property and is a back-up option if the Equus if filled. Make your reservations early, but save us a room! Renee, Puka, Clinton, and owner, Mike Dailey, are consummate hosts and we love them all.

I would recommend the Equus to all my friends and family.

September 20, 2011 |

I work @ Bookit.com as a Resolutions representative. I had a guest who needed to add a bed only a couple days before their arrival for their mother-in-law who was accompanying them. I called and spoke with Rene in In-House Reservations. He was cheery and eager to help--great customer service even in working with a booking agent. I told him I needed to add a roll away bed to the guest's booking, have them charge the guest at the time of check-in and we would reimburse the guest for the bed (per our normal procedure). Rene would not hear of this. He took it upon himself to add the roll away bed for free, a 125.00 charge, in order to keep the guest from being inconvenienced whatsoever. Obviously this was a huge help for us here at Bookit.com as well. I was just so amazed and impressed at his eagerness to help everyone in anyway he could. I work with property contacts every day, all day and I have never had any one help me so much and so happily. I am blown away.

September 17, 2011 |

My fiancé and I got into Honolulu, Hawaii at about 10pm. We felt run down from our long flight and layovers that we were both ready to strangle each other. As we were dropped off by our taxi driver my fiancé and I were so worn out & tired of dragging our luggage around. Then out of nowhere, we were greeted by a friendly smile. He introduced himself as Mapu (at that point, I realized our vacation has finally started). He directed us to the registration desk at the Equus & he helped us with our luggage. He could see how irritated and tired we were. Throughout our stay he made sure we were comfortable. We felt he went above and beyond. I would stay here again and would recommend The Equus to friends & family. Throughout our stay everyone at the hotel had OUTSTANDING customer service & our room had the best view of Waikiki. It's in a perfect spot, food, shopping & the beach! Everyone made us feel right at home. Thank you Equus & Mapu, our new friends...till we meet again! Mahalo to all!

At first, I was disappointed because we did not get the room that we booked (deluxe with ocean view) ,but as soon as we've met Renee the situation changed 180 degrees. She's super helpful and accommodating. She called the third party booking website to straightened up the problem.

I was very happy and contented staying at the Equus Hotel & Marina Tower. They have courteous and hospitable staffs, clean and decent room. I would definitely come back there again and refer it to my friends. Aloha.

I arrived at Equus after a lodging from hell and the staff was super friendly and turned my day around (thank you Puka!!) The rooms are clean and beautiful and bright. No complaints about the breakfast, it's your standard continental. Was super pleased that they were able to store my bag for the day after checkout so I could enjoy one last beach day before my flight. Only thing is I have a Mac and needed an adapter to access the internet in the room, but that's no biggie.

The Equus is such a perfect little hotel in a great location with easy access to everything it seemed. There aren't too many rooms which means the service is above and beyond and they are always willing to help with anything you need. After our long trip from California we were greeted by Rene at the front desk and our rooms were located in the Marina Tower. After checking into our room we found the view to be just beautiful of Ala Moana beach park. We had a kitchenette that had everything we needed to cook our meals on days we didn't want to go out to eat. Rene was very helpful, providing us with directions to get groceries, and restaurant advice - which included the North Shore Cafe that is located on the property. She also helped us to coordinate several different activites during our stay. She had great tips on local places to go to which gave us the local feel of the island. Her recommendations were invaluable to us and she made us feel part of the family. Fey the housekeeper always had a smile on her face as she took care of our room. My room at the Marina tower had everything I needed, fridge, mini stove...it was like having my own apartment in the middle of everything that's fun in town, with a view that took my breath away. Every night I would watch the sun set over the ocean with a view of the mountains and the night lights from town, every morning waking up to see the sun gleaming off the ocean as the city came to life.

The great room was complimented by the hospitality of the staff. Rene Kahumoku at the front desk greets everyone with such warmth and aloha, you feel like a family member returning home! Whenever I needed anything, a staff member is right there. I needed extra towels, rang Athena at the desk- I barely hung up the phone before someone was at my door with fresh towels! One morning I had trouble getting out of the parking garage and Puka came right over to help me on my way. I had a great stay, and would go back any time!

In my many past stays here, Ive written alot about how comfortable, affordable and convenient of a location this hotel is (near stores, beach, bus, restaurants etc...) but this time Id like to comment on the staff. You can stay at the most expensive hotels anywhere in the world but when the staff are unhelpful, rude and/or too busy for you...I don't want to stay there. One of my favorite things about this hotel is how personable they are. They make me feel like I'm at my " home away from home".

We loved the location of Equus near the Ala Moana Center (great food court) where all the buses depart. Opposite the center is a beach park which the locals prefer. It's perfect if you don't want to be in the middle of Waikiki. Our room was a bit noisy at night, since it faced (as all rooms) a busy street. The balcony was great though. The breakfast at Equus was good with fresh fruit and Hawaiian coffee. In the morning there was often a rush, since the lobby is small with limited seating and everybody wanted to be first at the fruit trays. The manager Renee is lovely!!!

I stayed at this hotel when I first arrived on the island. The hotel grounds are very clean and everyone was always willing to help. When I got to my room their was a personalized welcome note from the guest service manager Rene, accompanied by a box of Hawaiian chocolates! Rene is definitely by far the best! She was very helpful in helping me with any of my requests or needs. Everyone was very polite! Every time I came to the front desk she always remembered me by name! I would definitely recommend this hotel to my good friends and family members!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very nice and the staff serviced our room daily with the utmost cleanliness and respect for our things. Loved having a fridge in the room. It allowed us to save money and eat our leftovers without having to throw them away when we were to check out of the hotel. The only upgrade that the hotel might be interested in doing is adding a fan to the bathroom so that the room would not fog up and the towels would dry quicker.

I stayed in the West Marina tower with my girlfriend last month and the service is excellent!! This is my second time going to Hawaii and staying at West Marina Tower is the best decision we ever made. My room is always maintained clean and nice by the lady named Linelle. She is very friendly and nice! Me and my girlfriend travel all over the country and never met a very nice housekeeper like her. Who would know that a 2 1/2 star hotel will have a great employee like this.. She always make sure that our place is nice and clean and if we have any question, just let her know. I'm writing this comment to let everybody know that this is the best place to stay when you go to Hawaii!

I stayed at the Equus Hotel and Marina tower for 4th of July weekend and I can't explain how impressed I was with the service executed by Renee and her team. Fourth of July is a big thing in Hawaii and its always almost impossible to book anything near ala moana beach park and if you do, it isn't guaranteed that you will get a view of the fireworks. I booked this ocean view room one week in advance and requested in the additional comments box, that I would love to view the fireworks for Independence day. THEY ACTUALLY READ MY COMMENTS!! I had called the day I was checking in to confirm my reservation and that's when I had the pleasure of talking to Renee, she was awesome! You could tell that Renee really loves what she does, the aloha in her voice was so accomodating and she was so excited to tell me about the room she set me and my special someone in. She had set us up on the 35th floor overlooking ala moana beach park. The view was so beautiful during the day and at night...it took my breath away. The view of the fireworks over the water was amazing.

The room was very comfortable. Air conditioner was already on and the room was cool. The bed was so comfortable, I wrapped myself up in that down comforter and watched the sailboats stream by from the huge windows. The staff also welcomed us with a pineapple and a hand written note welcoming us to the hotel. The floor was quiet and peaceful, so I recommend it for people who really just want to get away and relax. I read some reviews about rooms not being up to par. The Equus Hotel and just the Ocean View Rooms of the Marina tower have been renovated, the other floors of the Marina tower are still undergoing some construction. The location is very ideal, it is right next to Ala Moana mall and a few steps to the beach. I highly recommend this hotel, the price is great, the room is comfortable, and the sevice will "wow" you. It is nice to know that there is a hotel that not only takes care of tourist, but also extends their aloha to the locals. Mahalo

I stayed here last month for my business trip and the Staff's are very friendly and did an awesome job! While staying here i had an outstanding service from a lady named Linelle! She's was my housekeeper at that time and made sure that my room is clean and organized when i come back from work. She is very informative too, due to me not being familiar to the place, She gave me a lot of informations about good places to eat and have fun. By far this is one of my best trip! I would highly recommend this Hotel and once again i thank you guys for your excellent service!!!

I stayed at the equus for one week and the marina towers for one week on my two week stay in beautiful Hawaii. While in the equus, I had excellent customer service by a lady named Radiant. She made sure my room was clean and spotless whenever I arrived back to the property after work. After one week I was moved to the marina towers and Linelle was the housekeeper on the floor and was such a big help in so many ways.these two are outstanding individuals and I would be more than happy to return to the property on my next business trip to the islands...awesome service and and excellent time! Kudos!

Linelle made our stay fantastic. She was the security guard working at the parking complex and she had the most wonderful attitude. She really reflected the personality of Hawaii and welcomed us with lots of how they say aloha. Every time we came across her she was more than helpful and was full of laughs. Anyone who has the pleasure to meet Linelle is truly blessed.

Stayed here at the Equus for 4 nights.. Starting from my arrival Puka Front Office Agent and Renee Guest Service Manager greeted me with the true "Aloha spirit !!" and helped me get situated into my room that reminded me of back home the room was very clean and the bed was very comfy.. Jackie Executive Housekeeper was very pleasant and very helpful in so many ways she went above and beyond guest expectation until the end of my stay!! My BF Hans that works for another Aqua Hotel also visited with me..Everyone made my stay here very relaxing and pleasant !! I will definately be back!!! Keep up that "Aloha Spirit !!" Im currently serving in the military and had just made the move down to Oahu. Since there are no main land banks on the island I had completely taken my entire funds with me. So when I went to go make a hotel reservation it was looking near impossible to get a room, until I got on the phone with a wonderful women working at the front desk at The Equus Hotel& Marina Tower. Not only did she work with me around my problem but she took extra care to make sure I was going to be taken care of beyond what required of her. The service is by far extraordinary and I wish I could do more to express my gratitude. Thanks Again!!!!!!!

I actually didn't stay, but my brother and sister-in-law ware on their way to Hawaii for their anniversary. My brother has never been to Hawaii. I called to ask if I could have a box of chocolates or something sent to the room and how I go about doing that. Rene answered the phone and told me that he would be happy to send the chocolates to the room at no charge. He also noted on their account to treat them with VIP status and upgrade their room. He was amazing. What a great phone call !!!! I will definetly look up this hotel when I go to Hawaii. Thank you for starting their vacation off on a great note !!!!!!!!! Brilliant stay

My girlfriend and I are from Canada and went to Hawaii on a two week vacation. For the first week we stayed at the marina tower and after returning from Kauai we stayed in the Equus for two nights. When we arrived they instantly made us feel right at home. There were a few people there that went out of their way to make our time in Honolulu even better than it already was. I won't say there names but you'll know who they are if you go. As Canadians, during the stanley cup playoffs, we were obviously going to be watching a game or two. One of the games they both came (after work hours), had a drink (or two), explained more of the history of Hawaii asked us about life in Canada and we had a blast together.

Stayed here one night 6/3/2011. Service was very friendly, especially Rene, the service manager. She helped pick a perfect spot for lunch and held our luggage for us while we waited for a late flight to the big island. The bed & pillows were amazingly comfy after a whole day of travel. I slept so well, I didn't want to get out of bed! They have a small complimentary breakfast, toast, fruit & juice. It was great because I woke up starving! Very cute, comfy room, nice flat screen tv, fridge and toiletries were stocked. Hard place to find at night, you must go up a flight of stairs to the lobby and it's not noticeable from the street. Over all I would say yes, book your stay here. Comfy, good price, friendly staff and I really enjoyed the room :). Thank you Rene!!

I could not have been happier with our stay at the Equus Hotel. The room was always in immaculate condition and cleaned each day. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful and even went way above and beyond what I would expect from a very budget friendly establishment. This was a vacation for my girlfriend and I after not seeing each other in months (we currently live in separate cities). The guest services extra-ordinaire Rene went as far as helping me surprise my girlfriend with flowers and a bottle of wine in the room for when we arrived. I am blown away by how helpful everyone was and the trip was really a memorable one. The hotel is located a short walk from the Waikik beach and is close to everything that you would need. I could not recommend this hotel more, it was perfect!

This is my second stay at this hotel and even though I knew what to expect, I was still surprised and warmed by my experience there! We had 2 rooms and the staff managed to get them side by side, even though when we book we were told that it wasn' a guarntee. the rooms were clean and very comfortable. Amazing beds...great sleeps! The charm of The Equus is that it is a small hotel and because of this, they have the ability to make things personal. Puka is a total sweetheart...an amazing Hawaiin soul and always had a smile and an "Aloha" even if you were just passing by the front desk! Housekeeping staff are great! Never really saw them but they cleaned the rooms daily so I did know that they were around. I love the location. Depending on your speed about a 5-7 mins walk to the beach and about the same to the Ala Moana Shopping centre where on can pick up groceries to keep in the fridge in the room. There are restaurants within walking distance as well. I will be staying there on my next trip there and will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know who goes there! The Equus for a great time and a great stay! Mahalo!

I don't typically write reviews, but I figure I'd give it a shot. My fiance and I stayed for 6 days. We are both currently living on the mainland, but I am from Hawaii and stayed at a bunch of places in the area. I read all the reviews but still decided to choose this hotel. we booked our package on Expedia, so hotel and rental for a very reasonable price. First, yes seeing where to pull in is a bit difficult, if you miss it you have to go all the way around the block. There is one stall CLEARLY marked for "registration". That small lot (about 10 spaces) under the Equus tower is for HOTEL guests first come first serve. At check in they give you a key fob for the garage for their MARINA tower located right behind the Equus tower. Out of the 6 days we only had to park there 2 nights. And yes it is $18 a day. The rooms are nice, it was clean, clearly newly renovated. Not a huge space, but comfortable for a couple. We stayed in the EQUUS tower not the Marina. From what I gathered the Equus tower is the renovated rooms that resemble the pics online. Beds were very comfy with great pillows. Room was quiet, could not here the traffic outside. Bathroom is a bit small, but always had hot water. A bit of a small TV, but you are in Hawaii you shouldn't be watching too much TV anyways. The AC is a very quiet one and kept our room nice and cool. There was a coffee maker and small mini fridge and freezer. It wasn't on when we checked in, but just changed the dial to the highest setting (careful, on the highest setting it will freeze whatever is in the fridge). Ironing board, iron and hair dryer in the bathroom closet. NO WI-FI in room, it is a cable but its free, and it worked just fine, it was fast and reliable. There is WI-FI in the lobby and the front desk can give you the log on info. Continental Breakfast in the lobby. I am not a fan of continental breakfasts period, no matter where I have stayed. It consists of coffee, OJ, toast, rolls, muffins and fruit. But Mc Donalds is a block away, and IHOP (over priced) is 2 blocks away and a bit further is Wailana Coffee house (great breakfast reasonable price) The staff was great, very helpful and love to joke around. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you do your research and READ everything around you then you won't be surprised. I didn't walk in there expecting the Four Seasons. Like I said before, not a huge room, great for a couple who will use the room to sleep, shower and rest comfortably. Mahalo to the staff, keep up the good work!

This peaceful hotel had an amazing location at Ala Moana blvd and Hobron Ln. You are at the start of Waikiki Beach and you can still avoid all the local tourist traffic associated with Waikiki. Its also a 5 min walk to the Ala Moana shopping center, the Waikiki Marina, or waikiki beach in either direction. There is a constant cross breeze that blows through the rooms when you open the windows and doors.

We stayed at Aqua Equus before departing on our 7 night cruise around the Hawaiian Islands on the Pride of America. We have previously stayed at Aqua Wave which we enjoyed. The location was fine - we like walking so Waikiki was not too far away and Ala Moana shopping centre was very close. Our room (deluxe twin) was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The beds were super comfortable - better than in many 5* hotels. Check in / out was without a hitch. The complimentary breakfast was a nice extra. It's sad about those "glass half empty" people who comment on what they didn't get rather than appreciate what was offered. We have stayed in many hotels in Hawaii and at home in Oz from your 5* Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton to Youth Backpacker Hostels. Aqua Equus EXCEEDED what we expected for space, comfort and value for money. I would be happy to stay there again! I get totally fed up with whining people who write negative remarks rather than look at the positive aspects. As you know, it is a sad fact of human nature one can never please everyone. We were very happy with Aqua Equus. Mahalo Room Tip: Higher the room the quieter it is from street noise

The Equus Hotel is a sophisticated change and breath of fresh air from the typical Waikiki place of stay. Themed for the island's Paniolo Cowboy history, you'll get to see some beautiful photography and artwork depicting a uniquely Hawaiian tradition. I recommend staying in the one bedroom suite, which are beautifully furnished. If you can, take advantage of one of the hotels unique package offerings and check out the Polo fields on the North Shore. The hotel offers oceanside horseback rides, and on Sunday they host the coolest bbq on the island, where the local folks go to watch polo, eat good food, drink good drink, and enjoy the beach away from the crowds of Waikiki.

Great location - close to 2 beaches, park, shopping center, bus stops. All the Staff were very friendly and helpful, special thanks to Paolo for fast check-in and check out. Room had everything that I needed - a very comfortable queen bed, a small refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen TV, a small balcony with table and 2 chairs where I enjoyed reading in the evening. Mar 31, 2011 |

I recently stayed at the Equus for 7 nights on a trip to visit friends in Honolulu. After researching for 3 months, I finally made a decision to book the Equus. My main concern was finding a hotel that was clean without breaking the bank. I wasn't looking for a place to be pampered or to get room service. I absolutely found this at the Equus.

We had a king size bed that was amazing. After a long day of walking around and exploring, it was always a pleasure to come back to my room. There was plenty of space for my luggage. We had a large flat screen TV, a balcony (not much of a view, but my boyfriend spent every morning out there reading. It was his favorite part of the trip), and a small fridge. My room was cleaned each day. We both felt at ease while in our room.

The staff at the front were also extremely helpful. Although the Equus cannot book tour reservations, I found that the staff was always extremely helpful whenever I asked a question- and if they didn't know, they would find the answer for me. "What bus do I take? What time is the bus? How do I book a luau? Where is this restaurant?". You can also check out towels to take to the pool or beach.

The Equus does have a pool and jacuzzi, but you do have to walk outside to the street and around the building to get to it. There are also some tennis courts. In the morning, I had no problem getting sun (other than it seemed to rain each day while I was in Hawaii).

“My New Business Venue”

Mar 24, 2011 |

I happened onto the Equus after being dissatisfied with another hotel, and I found it perfect for my needs. Good price, clean rooms, friendly service, free fast internet, easy parking and centrally located. It's not a hotel for everyone...it doesn't sport a restaurant and it's not on the beach; but good eats are close by and the beach is a short walk, and the price allows you to splurge a bit on other things. I was there for business and it provided a great venue to do so -- it's now my new home for the 2 - 3 trips I make to Honolulu a year. I didn't use some of the services (pool and free continental breakfast) so I can't comment. The only negative I can think of is that the lobby area is small and that they have only one elevator...but if you're the patient type, it doesn't matter anyway. I'll be back.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were greated by the amazing Rene. She was incredibly nice and checked us in, in no time. I've stayed at the Equus on several visits and the service just keeps improving. The rooms are well appointed, we were on the 10th floor, partial ocean view but not lanai. The beds I've always had have been kings and they are awesome to say the least, you sink right in and have to pry yourself away to get to the beach. When you do make it outside you're right in the middle of everything. There's an ABC supperette on the same block and multiple restaurants the next block over. I've now now stayed at the Equus five seperate times and wouldn't care to stay any where else in Hawaii, the value can't be beat. Thanks again Rene!!!!

Equus was the perfect choice for us since we had an event to attend to in the Hawaii Convention Center, which is like 5 mins away or less from the hotel. The location is very convenient. The Equus decorum is aligned with it's Polo association but you do not have to love horses to appreciate the charming and comfortable rooms, including the lanai. The Hotel's location is great: to the east is Waikiki Beach and to the west is the Ala Moana Beach Park - both with-in walking distance with safe swimming and lifeguards on duty. For the shopoholic the Ala Moana Mall ( huge ) is a ten minute walk away but what made our visit truly unique was the staff. they are tops. Booking on the internet can be a crapshoot but this one turned out to far surpass our expectations. Location was great - good walks in all directions to Waikiki Beaches, Ala Moana Shopping Centre, Ali Wai Canal, Yacht Basin, Ala Moana Park and a block to TheBus stop. The room was not huge but the bed was really comfortable, there was a lanai for sitting and we didn't come to Hawaii to spend our holiday in our room anyway. Staff was really nice and helpful, breakfast was good and there's a free daily paper.

I had the opportunity to stay at your resort last week for 4 days with a friend of mine. We were glad we could find a hotel in central Honolulu / Waikiki area that doesn't charge such steep rates as most hotels in the Waikiki area. The amenities are great which include coffeemaker, on premise laundry, as well as refrigerator for cold drinks, renovated bathroom and friendly continental breakfast while water with fresh lemon is available throughout the day. The ambiient lighting in the rooms is also a wonderful touch since most hotels are only providing bright, florescent lighting these days. The management is very attentive to public appearance and needs, and front desk staff that include Puka & Renee are exceptionally accommodating. I highly recommend this property for anyone wishing to experience a superior location with all the comforts of home seeking a boutique environment and clean public areas and roomsThe room was lovely, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Just returned from a marvelous vacation trip to Waikiki. I had a most excellent stay at the Equus Hotel! For my tastes, the hotel is perfectly located at the north end of Waikiki. Situated close enough to comfortably walk to Waikiki Central, but yet far enough off the beaten path to get a sense of seclusion from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, itself. Not to mention, there are plenty of restaurants close by, and also very close walking distance to the beautiful Ala Moana Beach Park and Ala Moana Shopping Center, Yet another big plus for me!

Puka, the gentleman who checked me in, really outdid himself when I asked for a room one one of the higher floors (I had read in here that the Ala Moana road noise may be of concern). With a short wait, he set me up on the 9th floor in an outstanding King room (which, by the way, I was able to upgrade to with the Trip Advisor coupon.). The room was absolutely more than I had expected before arriving here and a pleasant surprise!

Along with Puka, the entire staff was friendly, informative, and helpful in every way! I would absolutely book this hotel the next time I come back to the area...which I hope is very soon!

Trust me, in my opinion, you really can't miss with the Equus Hotel!

The front desk night shift was really nice and even let me use the computer to do an online check-in for my flights. Furthermore, on my last day of the stay I talked to Réne who also works at the front desk. After I had checked out, we chatted about our love for the ocean and she offered me the opportunity to use a hotel room for taking a shower in the evening before leaving for the airport. That way I could go to the beach on my very last day in Honolulu and still not be all sandy and salty on the flight back home. Also she gave me a Christmas tree ornament :) Thank you so much!

This is my 5th time at the Equus so have to admit a bias ! We have tried about 10 other mid range hotels but the Equus stands out by far on friendly customer service, generous size and clean rooms and sumptuous beds.

There are a number of steps up to the Lobby but my Mum is 85 and she did not complain. There is only one lift which can be a little slow. There is traffic noise - but you have glazing and air conditioning and it was certainly not as noisy as the Wyland ( now Courtyard).

The receptionists are all fabulous ( Puka esp) and you will always be greeted with a smile and a courteous answer to any issue you raise. A breakfast is provided each day in the adjoining Marina Towers of toast fruit and coffee. There is a fridge and coffee maker in your room and free internet!

A big thank you to Rene and her team. We will back again next year which is the best recommendation I can give.

If you could stay in a clean, comfortable newly renovated room, with all the basic amenities, plus some extras like a flat screen TV and refrigerator, add friendly service and convenient location to, well, everything, top it off with reasonable rates ( including return guest discounts) .... WHY would you stay anywhere else? I can walk to Ala Moana Shopping Center, or for a quick snack... the ABC store is at the corner, a little further you are at the Food Pantry with fresh fruit, muffins, a warm packaged dinner or even my favorite...Sushi! I can cross the street and be at the beginning of Waikiki (on the North side) , go for a run at the park, or enjoy Pizza and beer at the Harbor Pub. You want to go to the main avenue, Kalakaua? The Equus is right on the bus route or just a 15 min. walk. Personally, I like to relax with a nice stroll on the beach with many entrances to take me to the main road. Dislikes? Well if I were rich and could afford to spend tons of money on a view that I look at a few minutes at night before I go to sleep and a few minutes before I go there, then I wish it was right on the beach like at those Main Premium Hotels. This is a "short" review of all the great things I could say about staying at "The Equus" So WHY wouldn't you stay there? Thank you to Puka for always making me feel welcome at your Hotel!!!

My brother and sister and I decided to come to Hawaii for a vacation after a long stressful year of college. We settled on staying at the Equus and we had a great time. The staff were relaxed and friendly and they were very helpful with directing us around the city. The rooms were very clean and the beds were amazing, one of the most comfortable sleeps I have ever had!

My husband and I travelled to Oahu, from Aotearoa, with our parents for a cousin's wedding & holiday. We stayed 10 days at The Equus and the whanau (staff) took awesome care of us and helped make our Hawaii experience THE VERY BEST!! We'd like to thank ALL of the staff that we got to know while we stayed there..... Much love to JunJun (housecare), Jackie (security), Achew (front desk), Paolao (front desk), Kiki (front desk) and not to forget 'the man' Mapu (housecare). We are so grateful to you all and look forward to coming back again, this time with our children :)

The value for money was tremendous especially for a 10 day stay..... the location is the BEST, right in the middle of Waikiki only a stone-throw away from anything you need.... the room we stayed in was modern, clean and had all amenities necessary.... the service we rate as A++++, helpful, friendly and genuine, you can't get better!!.... sleep quality, well, when you're on holiday what else can you ask for, you usually only go back to your hotel to catch some Z's when you really need it (well that was us anyway)... there's too much to see and do :) Excellent!!

This was our first time booking over the internet for accommodation, so it was very scary at the beginning. We understand how people feel about this and have given an honest review about The Equus Hotel so other people can enjoy the same as us. It really helps as well when you take the time to talk with the people of Hawaii. We came to realize that the place itself is gorgeous, but the people are what make it beautiful!!! What a delight. We were in Honolulu for my friend to get knee surgery for an old injury, and had to switch to this hotel midway during her recovery because of the busy Xmas week. What a stroke of good fortune. This hotel is SO much nicer than the one we were staying at. All the furnishings are plush, plush, plush, bed, sofa, easy chair, etc. And they bent over backwards to get the room ready for us (since we had to check out of the other place by 10:00am) and my friend was in pain from not being able to prop up her leg. They really have the spirit of "aloha" - they care about guests enjoying their stay and are willing to do what it takes.

The location is also great, close enough to Waikiki without being on top of it. I would not hesitate to return to the Equus in the future. Lovely hotel.

Our housekeeper Linelle was fantastic! The elevator on the 37th floor (lots of stairs) wasn't working (and its Christmas!), but Linelle climbed every step in order to make sure we got the best care possible. If that doesn't scream customer satisfaction, then nothing does.

Linelle-Thank you very much. Because of you I will come back again and stay in this hotel. You have been wonderful and took really good care of me. This hotel is good and the location is fantastic. Ala Moana center is 5 mins walk, ust across is Ala Moana park. You can see beautiful sunset on this beach. I would recommend this hotel. It has nice small kitchen area if you like to prepare your own food. Toilet is clean and bed is comfortable.

ALOHA!!! We stayed here for our honeymoon in Hawaii, and it was perfect for us! Firstly, I want to thanks all the staff for their help and kindness, but specially Rene and Puka : Thank you guys for everything! and Rene thanks again for making our honeymoon unforgettable and special! When I booked this hotel I was looking for an affordable one near Waikiki. I booked the Equus because it was what I was looking for. And boy, I am happy that I followed my instincts. My stay here was perfect!!! There were two us in a large room with high ceiling and one king bed, coffee maker, mini fridge, HDTV. Everything was clean and spacious, and that was all we were looking for. We were on the 9th floor, and there were 1 slow elevator, but honestly who cares!?!? : YOU ARE IN VACATIONS!!! I mean, the whole hotel is kind of old, but the emphasis here is on clean, spacious, good service and close to Waikiki Beach, where most of the action took place. My wireless internet connection was perfect. I stayed in more expensive hotels around the world in the past several years, and they had much worse connections. Do not hesitate to stay at the Equus hotel in Honolulu! You will not be disappointed!

"Great location"

aust_traveller_10 - Adelaide, Australia

We had read some not so great reviews on trip advisor prior to setting off to Hawaii in Aug 2010 but when we arrived at The Equus after a 10 hour flight we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed at the HOTEL and not in the Marina Tower.

There is a flight of stairs up to the lobby which may be a bit of an obstacle for some but once we got to the lobby the helpful staff let us check in early. The lift is right next to check in and we didn't experience the long delays that past travelers have written about.

Our room was right by the road and whilst you could hear traffic, by 11pm the whole road seems to be more quiet, however it probably wouldn't hurt to ask for a room away from the road if it is available. Both the room and the bathroom are a good size.

Our room was cleaned daily and the free breakfast in the lobby was enough to get your day started. We used the pool/spa at the towers next door and the laundry is cheap and convenient to use (also located in the tower building).

The location is great with just a short walk both into the main part of Waikiki as well as the excellent Ala Moana shopping centre.

For the price, The Equus is good value.

"The rooms are comfy and the staff is more frendly then I ever expected"

ninfan34 - Honolulu, Hawaii

I plan on coming back to Hawaii, and I will definitely try to stay at the Equus Honolulu if there’s room. The rooms are comfy and the staff is more friendly then I ever expected. I wanted to give a special thanks to Linelle, she really made sure we were well taken care of.

"Had an excellent stay"

iipandaii

Had an excellent stay at the Marina Towers. In house staff member Linelle was very helpful. She told me where to go in Waikiki and where to find the best deals for shopping.

"Out of all recent hotel visits this has been my most pleasurable"

Ma0ss7y - Honolulu, Hawaii

I have been in the Equus and the Marina tower for just over 3 weeks now. I would personally like to thank an employee named Linelle for all of her hard work and dedication she has showed. I travel very often and out of all recent hotel visits this has been my most pleasurable. Linelle has taken it upon herself to make sure that me and my colleague have absolutely everything that we need for our stay. I cannot ask for anything more than I have thus far. Anyone looking for a well priced room, great service, and a wonderful location should choose Equus Hotel or the Marina Tower (sister building).

"Hope to see you next visit"

pms60 - Panama City Beach, Florida

Linelle is a great asset to the Equus Marina Tower. She was always willing to help with what ever we needed, from help with our luggage driving directions to the best restaurants. Thanks Linelle, hope to see you next visit.

"The Marina Tower has amazing rooms with ocean view"

mansuri - Denver

I have stayed at the Equus and Marina towers for five days; the hotel is so clean and the staff are very nice, especially Rene. She is a very a nice and helpful lady, she helped me a lot along my stay. I strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visits Honolulu. By the way, the Marina Tower has amazing rooms with ocean view!

"Near great shopping and Waikiki not far"

BKKLamoot - Bangkok, Thailand

Room is nicer than some reviews made out, slightly noisy from traffic due to location, but near great shopping and Waikiki not far. Front staff very helpful, I arrived early in the morning and they gave me an early check in, thank you Pukka.

"Thank you so much for making them feel right at home"

Darci0608 - San Jose, California

My family stayed at this hotel for a few months while my Aunt had surgery. They received such wonderful customer service from Kika. Thank you so much for making them feel right at home during their very long stay at your hotel.

"Kika is the best"

airbaseuso - Pago Pago, American Samoa

Kika is the best. She has helped my family with great service and care.

"Absolutely nothing short of awesome"

tylia - Honolulu, Hawaii

First off, the staff of The Equus was absolutely nothing short of awesome! They really made my family's stay comfortable & were always willing to accommodate. One staff member in particular, Kika, was our favorite. She always greeted us with a huge smile & was very warm & gave us the "ohana" feel. There were many instances in which she went out of her way to lend a helping hand. Because of her dedicated service I will definitely be going back there.

The rooms were also great. I wasn't expecting it to look that great - other hotels in the same price range that I've stayed at were well below the standard of The Equus. It was clean, quaint & was always restocked. The pool was also great! If you'd rather go to the beach, there's the Ilikai beach right across the street which is an enclosed beach with the open beach right across. The Equus is within walking distance to Wailani's, an IHOP restaurant, & a sports bar and grill. Across the street is the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we took our 16 month old to the penguins, which he absolutely loved!

Choice location, great value & AWESOME STAFF!

"My stay at the hotel was wonderful"

TinaQuichocho - Guam

I had a great experience at the Equus Hotel. The front desk staff, including Ms. Rene, was very helpful and welcoming. The housekeepers, especially Ms. Jackie, Ms. Radiant, and Ms. Linelle, were very generous and friendly with a warm Aloha. Overall, my stay at the hotel was wonderful because of the staff's hospitality. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

"Very personable, highly recommended"

anilandapril - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I'm looking for budget friendly honeymoon to give me and my wife. Searched all over the net for the best looking hotel close to many amenities. Called and explained what I was looking for and liked to do, was thoroughly please with picture that was painted for me by Renee. Not only did she WOW me with her hospitality on the phone, but she assured me that we will have an unforgettable honeymoon. Very personable, highly recommended!!!!

"BIG on Hospitality and the Aloha spirit that we have all come to love and cherish"

ImDaddyslilgurl - Captain Cook, Hawaii

Tucked away, hidden besides tall buildings and the beauty of Honolulu City lights you'll find an Oasis, a Hidden Treasure worth discovering and finding, it’s The Equus Hotel.

There's much to enjoy about the hotel. First its location, it isn't competing with all the busyness of the city, it isn't clamored with all the hustle and bustle of LARGE city living, instead it's a rare gem. Although small in size compared to the towering LOUD hotels the city has, it's BIG on Hospitality and the Aloha spirit that we have all come to love and cherish. It's BIG on offering you the personal touches of hospitality that could out do any fancy hotel, the Pure Kona Coffee and fresh baked goods offered in their quaint hotel reception room is a welcoming way to start your day. Friendly staff that greet you as you come and go. Once you’re in your room, you'll start to unwind. There's a big city out there, but here in the comforts of "almost home" we begin to unwind, take deep breaths and relax. The down comforters and comfortable beds makes sleeping in a new habit! The Equus has gone through some major renovations and as frequent visitors to the Big Big City we appreciate all the "Up-do's!"

Be sure to say, "Aloha" to Rene Kahumoku (front desk receptionist) she's the one with the Great Big Hawaiian Smile that'll brighten up anyone's day no matter what's going on! It's the Smile and Aloha spirit that you want to encounter after the long, long trip of getting to Hawaii. Whatever you need, she'll do her utmost to assist you in finding your way around the island. (Don’t leave the island without getting a HUG from her, it'll leave a smile on your heart for the rest of your life!!!) I get a hug every time we visit!

The Equus hotel offers a beautiful swimming pool, which I haven't ventured into because the city calls to me...hahahaha :) We're looking forward to our next visit and stay at the Hidden Treasure of the Equus Hotel.

"One of the most beautiful boutique hotels that my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of staying"

stacysworld - kailua-kona, Hawaii

The Equus is by far one of the most beautiful boutique hotels that my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of staying. The staff is so friendly and wonderful we have stayed there before and will continue to stay there. The guest services manager Renee just embodies the aloha spirit. She is so wonderful to see every time we return to the Equus. It's as if we never left. Renee goes above and beyond her duties to make us feel comfortable and welcome us back to the Equus. We love everything about the hotel. The location is phenomenal, right across the Ala Moana shopping center at the entrance to Waikiki. The complimentary continental breakfast. The decor is so beautiful. It's like you have taken a step back in time: old Hawaii meets new contemporary Hawaii. I cannot say enough about how much my husband and I enjoy the Equus. The guest services manager is so pleasant and so wonderful we enjoy seeing her smiling face every time we return. Thank you Equus and Renee for making us feel ever so special every time we return. If anyone is looking for a place to stay with aloha look no more, the Equus is the place for you. Just ask for Renee and you to will feel the aloha spirit.

"The Equus was as good as home"

josephinevs - Tutuila, American Samoa

Our three-month stay at the The Equus was as good as home! The purpose of travel was for medical reasons and the Management and Staff were fun and friendly in a professional way that we almost felt at home. Their prompt services are excellent.

"Rene made my trip to the island memorable"

henanimauloa - Honolulu, Hawaii

I was greeted by your guest service agent Rene. She made me feel welcome. I being a solo traveler for many years now really appreciated the ALOHA she displayed on my arrival. She was very pleasant, helpful in getting me to my room in a timely manner. She also answered questions for me concerning dining, shopping, places of interest. Rene made my trip to the island memorable.

"I would not hesitate to direct anyone to this wonderful complex."

1576ff - Manitoba, Canada

This is our scenario. Mom and Dad stayed previously in one of the private units in the Marina Tower. They immediately booked again for this January-February 2011, 8 months in advance. Not only for the location but friendliness of the staff and comfort feeling they had grown to enjoy during their time of stay.

Unfortunately a situation arose were the individuals who accepted Mom and Dad’s deposit and desired dates, confirmed with a written agreement, TERMINATED their reservation!! My parents were terribly upset and their excitement level bottomed right out.

The couple decided that they could receive more REVENUE from longer term tenants so tossed my parents out!

Unethical, rude, very disappointing, and worst of all, no true sense of regret.

As they say, during every storm there lies a silver lining. This silver lining was introduced to me by the way of Guest Service Manager "Rene". I explained our situation and within our conversation I felt a person of great respect and understanding.

In the end Mom and Dad are staying here and are so happy and grateful to be back in the building and the Island they love so much! All due to the people at the The Equus and Marina Tower. I would not hesitate to direct anyone to this wonderful complex.

"Some of the best helping, customer-caring staff"

Bombanationgirl - Hilo, HI

Hi yes, I've stayed at your hotel this past summer and I must say that you guys some of the best helping, customer-caring staff! I would mostly like to thank a particular Ms. Kika Ilalio for making me and my grandmother's stay a very comfortable one. She came in every day with a smile and never failed to make us feel like we were long time friends. She is an asset to the hotel and I suggest that you promote her!

"Great location, clean and comfortable"

Canada

Generally I was very pleased with my stay at the Equus. It's in a great location; bus stops nearby, walking distance to many beautiful beaches, Waikiki and the Ala Moana Centre, as well as many eating establishments. There's a steep flight of stairs to reception and this may be an issue for those with mobility problems. The microwave is on the main level and you have to use washer and dryer facilities at their sister hotel next door. Overall, good value for money and I would recommend this hotel.

"Sunrise over Diamond Head, a dip in the Pacific--all before breakfast"

Pasadena, California

I'm still glowing after my trip to Hawaii and stay at the Equus Hotel. The hotel was affordable and really nice. It's off Waikiki enough to avoid the bad traffic, but close enough to walk and enjoy all it has to offer. The best part was waking up every morning of my stay, running to Ala Moana Beach Park for a wake-up run, then taking off the shoes and swimming while the sun came up behind Diamond Head--I'll never forget it.

The rooms are newly remodeled. The beds are comfortable and sheets spectacular. I heartily recommend this hotel. Also, the staff was personable and very friendly. My wife wanted a higher room and the receptionist worked with housekeeping to free up a great room within 20 minutes of our request. It was the best. Every morning we were greeted with a smile and another great tip for sightseeing for the day.

"Best Place for Price paid $$"

San Francisco, California

Excellent View and quite (off the street), Near to Shoping center with lots lots of food choice and Park. Tennis court if you are Tennis Lover. I believe for the Price I paid its more then its worth, Friendly Staff. Parking is relative low then other Hotel around it ($18/night)

"Much improved,a great value in a great location"

Oahu, Hawaii

Have stayed at this hotel before, due to its location with easy access to the rest of Honolulu.Parking is easy(though not cheap...But I have yet to find cheap parking in Waikiki ....or downtown Honolulu for that matter). The level of service and the condition of the rooms seems much improved. The ocean views are the best bargain in Wakiki, and the rooms have nice little kitchens to boot.Though this is the less busy, quieter part of Waikiki, there are plenty of good restaurant choices nearby and the beach is a short 10 minute walk for a morning swim off Ala Moana Beach Park.Rates are still very affordable, though I imagine they might be moving up soon with all the improvements to the rooms and the property.

"I absolutely loved this little quaint hotel."

Mampy11 - Galveston, Texas

Everything was very nice here, from the professional and very polite staff, to the excellent rooms. A little small but well utilized areas. Refrigerator/freezer for ice, balcony, big screened TV's, and the best beds and pillows that I have had in a hotel in a long time.

Clean, soft towels. Cutest outside area with teak wood chairs. Airline shuttle or cab pickup, right outside the door. What more could you possibly want?

No restaurant but there are plenty within walking distance. You can take the public shuttle for $2.00 to Waikiki Beach (catch it across the street).

Loved it!!!!!!!

"You will love it"

Hawaiidiver 09 - Oahu, Hawaii

Loved it! The rooms are comfortable and good size. Its at a perfect location close to everything waikiki has to offer: beaches, shopping, and dining. The decor is also very stylish with an interesting theme. The management is extremely customer friendly, at Tuesday mingling which includes a good cocktail! i learned the best the island has to offer from chatting with some of the staff.

"Great deal for the price!"

Tacoma, Washington

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Equus. This was our first trip to Honolulu and my husband’s first trip to Hawaii. The staff was friendly and quick upon check in. The room was clean and decorated well. Nothing large or opulent but nice, cozy, and updated. The bed was huge and comfortable. I was worried from some of the negative reviews about the street noise but it was minimal and did not bother our sleep at all. Pool was small but I have learned from previous trips to Hawaii not to book a room based on the pool, you spend your entire time on the beach. We had one small problem with our TV and within minutes someone was in our room and reset the TV. The staff was great with questions and bus instructions. The continental breakfast was conservative but filled us up and was always fresh. My only complaint was that it was a little further from Waikiki beach than we thought, but it was a nice walk back to the hotel. Really enjoyed the value and service.

Please let us know what you think of our hotel and guest experience. We are always listening.
Cordially,
The Equus Hotel and Marina Tower staff
