holoholo

ho·lo·ho·lo  ·  verb  ·  ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi

To go for a walk, ride, or sail. A leisurely trip with no strict destination.

It’s a word we know well. Our family arrived in Honolulu in 1952. Our journey has taken us from the polo fields of the North Shore to the mountain trails of Pālehua and the bustling beaches of Waikīkī. This fall, come holoholo with us.

Questions from the trail

Holoholo Season, answered

What is Holoholo Season at The Equus?

Holoholo Season is The Equus Hotel’s fall offer: 20% off stays booked by November 1, 2026 for travel through December 10, 2026. Holoholo is the Hawaiian word for going out for a walk, ride, or sail with no strict destination.

What is the 20% off applied to?

The discount comes off our standard nightly rate for your dates and room type. The exact price shows in the booking engine before you pay. Fees are included in the rate; taxes are added at checkout.

When do I need to book, and when can I stay?

Book by November 1, 2026. Stays are valid through December 10, 2026. Blackout dates apply, including holidays, so check your dates in the booking engine.

Can I combine Holoholo Season with the Kamaʻāina or military rate?

No. Holoholo Season is not combinable with other offers. If you qualify for the Kamaʻāina rate or a military or government rate, compare them against Holoholo Season for your dates and book whichever is better for you.

Can I still go horseback riding in the fall?

Yes. Trail rides at the Hawaiʻi Polo Club on the North Shore and at Pālehua in the Waiʻanae mountains run year-round, weather permitting. Polo season itself runs April through Labor Day, so there are no Sunday matches in the fall, but the riding is at its best. Ask the front desk to help you book.

Why is fall a good time to visit Oʻahu?

Fall is Oʻahu’s shoulder season. Summer crowds thin out, the trade winds return, the ocean stays warm, and rates at The Equus are at their lowest of the year. It’s the stretch locals consider the best-kept secret on the calendar.

How far is The Equus from the beach and the airport?

Waikīkī Beach is 0.3 miles from the hotel, and Ala Moana Center and the Hawaiʻi Convention Center are a short walk. Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is about 15 minutes west. Our front desk is staffed 24 hours for late arrivals.
